ELF CHRISTMAS
The doors of The Hullabaloo remain closed over Christmas, but because Santa knows that it’s such a special place where we’re used to making magic, he’s asked if he can send down four of his elves to create a regional packing depot of the National Elf Service at The Hullabaloo, so he can be sure that all the toys reach children in Darlington on Christmas Eve.
CAST
We are looking to cast four performers to play the parts of the Elves for a week in the run up to Christmas. The Elves will be busy elfing about behind the windows of The Hullabaloo each day, which will be transformed into a magical festive packing depot.
The Elves will also be the stars of ElfCam and will be engaged in a variety of other Christmas Hullabaloo activities as we attempt to make a blended offer of digital and live magic to engage our audiences.
We are looking for four experienced physical performers, who are confident improvisers and ideally have training or experience in clowning. The performers will work with our artistic team to develop character sketches, storyboards and some set pieces, but our elves are non-verbal and much of the daily ‘elfing’ will require performers to be confident at delivering improvised material around an agreed idea in the space.
The material will be devised and developed through a hybrid process of online sharing and socially distanced rehearsal and filming. We will work closely with everyone in the process to ensure that social distance and Covid secure practice is in place.
