Originally from rural South West Scotland and trained in New York, Emma Jayne Park is a contemporary dancer who battles queer styles waacking and vogue internationally. Emma is Scotland’s leading waacking resource, collaborating with Dive Queer Party and events such as Queeriousity. Her 2015 work #Trans toured nationally and was programmed in Miriabilia (Italy) Festivals Scotland Focus. Emma was selected as an ASSITEJ Next Generation Artist (2016) and a PUSH Project Artist during their Gender and Sexual Identity in Lab (2017). Her immersive work for five year olds Experts In Short Trousers,has been performed nationally to critical acclaim with support from Creative Scotland and mentorship from Tony Reekie. Emma works under the creative handle Cultured Mongrel, representing her practice of exploring the intersection of multiple cultures underpinned by common value set.
